Yarn Used: worsted weight leftovers

Needles: 4mm DPNs

Modifications: none

Note: A friend of mine found the pattern on revelry and recommended it. I'm really glad she did because it was so much fun to make! Knitting this coffee sleeve only took me an hour - including weaving in all the strands.

I used the jogless stripes technique to get nice, smooth stripes.
Round 1: knit all stitches using the new color
Round 2: slip the first stitch, knit around
Round 3: Knit around

52 Knits // Julekuler III

Pattern: Julekuler by Arne & Carlos

Yarn Used:Less than 10grams of Lana Grossa Meilenweit 6-ply(80% wool, 20% polyamide)

Needles: 3mm DPNs

Modifications: none

Note: Yet another one of these. Have I mentioned that they're addictive? They turned out much bigger than I had thought in the beginning; just three of these (+ a bunch of other vintage ornaments) and my tiny tree is already pretty packed. I guess I'll have to add to my Julekuler collection as my tree grows ;)

This Julekuler was knitted in cooperation with my mom. She knitted the stranded part and the Christmas ball turned out MUCH bigger than the other ones I knitted. I would've never thought that different knitters would get such different results using the same needles and yarn.

ps: Just a head's up... I bought a spinning wheel at a flea market last weekend. I had to replace some parts but now it's fixed and I can finally start spinning! Eeek. I'm SO excited about this new hobby. What's every knitter's dream? Knitting the perfect cardigan out of a soft, homespun and hand dyed yarn. Hehe. Expect lots of spinning posts in the future!

52 Knits // Yarn Wreath

Pattern: my own, inspiration found on pinterest

Yarn Used: Cascade Yarns Ecological Yarn(100% wool) left overs

Note: I know, I know, technically this is not a knitted project but I'm counting it towards my 52 Knits anyway because it involves yarn. I originally planned on knitting the wreath first but I didn't find anything I liked on the internet but I fell in love with the simple, yarn wrapped wreaths that popped up all over the internet pinterest in the past weeks.

I don't know much yarn it took to cover the whole styrofoam wreath, but it took quite a while to cover the whole thing. I went through three The Office episodes until I had it all covered (for those of you who're not in the loop, that's 3x20minutes = one hour!). I didn't expect it to take that long but it was quite mediative ;)

Decorating the wrapped yarn was much more fun though! I attached pretty much everything with safety pins or knots, thus I can use the wreath again for the spring or fall or whatever.

52 Knits // Dovetail Cowl

Pattern: Dovetail Cowl by Carina Spencer

Yarn Used:150grams of ONline Linie 310 Alpaca (100% Alpaca)

Needles: 4mm circular needles

Modifications: knitted the larger size; didn't knit the rolled edge.

Note: I've had this cowl in my queue for quite a while but I usually talk myself out of buying patterns because there are so many great free patterns out there. But after a successful exam I treated myself to a pattern. Those of you who follow me on instagram(@froggeddesigns) saw how little yarn I had left over after binding off - about 10 inches!!! Only having very little yarn left for the bind off always gives me an adrenaline rush - not something I look forward to at 2:15am!
Anyway, I managed to knit the whole thing with only three skeins and the result is wonderful. It's pretty stiff since it was knitted with rather small needles but it's perfect for windy days ;)
I can wrap the cowl around my neck three times(and ruining my hair) or two times and have a comfy, loose cowl. If I were to ever knit it again(unlikely since it's only a knit&purl pattern, hence it's pretty boring to knit...) I'd go up a needles size to get a 'fluffier' cowl :)

Little Forest Quilt

Remember how I started sewing a Christmas wall hanging back in October? Uhm, well, I finished it. Yesterday. I put off sewing the binding on by hand forever because it's not much fun. Especially not if you don't have a thimble that fits and you keep hurting your finger with the needle. And then the white/green quilt gets some red spots...

Anyway, I finished it! YAY! And it looks lovely. I hung it up in the hallway. The lighting there is terrible so excuse the awful photos.
If you wanna make a little forest quilt I highly recommend the tutorial. It's well written and the result is awesome.

I quilting is very minimalistic - just stitching in the ditch. It didn't turn out perfectly because the quilting foot I used that was supposed to guide the quilting right into the seam didn't really work properly. I don't complain about my sewing machine because it's awesome and I love it's pretty much impossible to see where you're quilting with the foot. I changed to the regular sewing foot after two lines and quilted the rest myself, as in without any guide on where to quilt.

For the back I used some old sheets I found in my parent's basement. Having a mom who collects vintage sheets is awesome :)

Note: Oh my, these are addictive! I couldn't resist knitting this cute squirrel. Lina seems to like my Julekulers, too - she's been hanging out under the tree whenever I'm in the kitchen. The worst thing she did so far to the tree was trying to eat it - but I guess she realized rather quickly that pine needles aren't very tasty ;)
I don't have a lot of ornaments yet - mainly because I didn't plan on getting a tree in the first place. I'll buy lots of ornaments(and lights!) after Christmas when they're on sale. Until then I just have to keep knitting Julekuler ;)

Note: The 'julekuler' have been on my to-knit list for quite a while. But there were always so many other things that had to get done by Christmas (be prepared for LOTS of 52 Knits projects right after Christmas. I'll share the knitted gifts as soon as the recipient got them.). But I finally knitted my first julekuler last week. It's pretty wonky and not very perfect but hey, I never claimed to be good at stranded knitting. I really have to work on my colorwork skills.
