Simon's Cat

Have I ever mentioned my youtube addiction? I used to watch youtube videos for hours. Until the German government decided that too much influence from youtube is no good for us Germans and decided the block most of the videos. Kidding. Most youtube videos are blocked because of copyright violations.

So no more music videos, advertisements or even home videos with licensed background music for me. On the positive side, the youtube censorship had a positive effect on my weekly internet pensum. Luckily, Simon's Cat is not blocked. Every cat lover/owner should watch at least one of the videos. It is all true. We've had our cat taking off al the christmas decoration from our tree before. The cats grew up, though and became somewhat more responsible :)

ENJOY!

In my grandma's closet...

... we found lots of fun things!

She has many clothes from the 80s which are super cute! Unfortunately, we didn't find many that could have been considered to be 60s fashion.

For obvious reasons, my dad decided NOT to wear this... jacket(?) thing. My mom found a cute dress:

But it was waaay too big. Too bad. I found a very cute dress. Though it's not exactly 60s inspired, I'll probably wear it just because it's cute :)

I'll show you some pictures as soon as I washed it. Also I'll need shoes and a handbag. hehe. I can't wait to see what the other guests have come up with as an outfit.

60's parties are so much fun! :)

ps: Does anyone have recipe suggestions? It should be 60s inspired...

My Nutrition Pyramid

30 // 365, Friday, February 4, 2011

I went grocery shopping today. As you can see, I'm somewhat obsessed with yogurt. I've been a vegetarian for... 5-6 years? But I eat dairy products. I couldn't imagine life without yogurt, cheese and milk. Maybe I'll host a vegan week(or day?) sometime. Actually I should put that on my goals list for 2011...

Anyways, thank you for the nice comments on my camera bag, I truly appreciate it <3

Have a wonderful weekend,

Marie

ReStyled Vol. I: Camera Bag Insert

ReStyled Vol. I: After

As you all might know by now, I recently bought a new DSLR. Unfortunately, it wouldn't fit in my old camera bag. Which I didn't use often anyways, because I don't like to carry two bags. Most women probably agree that the average camera bag is not very... stylish? Or let's say it doesn't look very feminine. Although there are some cute camera bags out there (like Epiphanie or Jo Totes), they don't fit my student budget.

Soo here's what I came up with:

ReStyled Vol. I: Before

Take a bag you really like. Honestly, this is a lot of work and I wouldn't recommend doing it for a bag you might not like anymore in 2-3 months. I took the Fossil Weekender I normally use for school or for grocery shopping etc. since a lot of stuff fits in it. For protection and stability I used an old camping mat as lining. The only thing that I had to buy was a velcro fabric that enables me to restyle the bag quickly (I paid 3,15euros about 2 yards. A pretty cheap camera bag, huh?).

Finished Camera Bag Insert

This is what the finished insert looks like. I didn't care what the outside would look like since I plan to have it in my bag permanently. I used a dotted fabric my mom had on hand to make it somewhat more colorful. Unfortunately, the velcro fabric was only available in a blueish-grey tone. I'm not particularly fond of the color, but at least it's light so I find all the stuff quickly :)

Camera Bag Insert: Details

My dad has a fancy crumpler camera bag where I saw inlets that were round-shaped. I liked the idea. It's perfect for lenses or just storing a water bottle to make sure it stays in place and you don't risk having your drink spilled in your bag.

New Camera Bag

And this is what the camera bag looks like when it's empty. For school, I just take out all the inlets and I have a sturdy bah. The padded inlet is also great for carrying around a laptop and other stuff that shouldn't b handled too roughly.

If you have any questions on how to make a camera bag insert, go ahead and ask me. I'm not an expert, but think I could give you some useful advice :) You don't need a lot of sewing experience, either.

Much love,

Marie
