My approach to the 30 Lists project is pretty minimalistic. Washi Tape, Markers and three bottles of paint is all I have here at the moment. But that's fine for me because it makes me try new things, e.g. doodling.

I hope you've had a great weekend :)

30 Days of Lists: March 2012!

30 Days of Lists Book

Guess what? Only one more day until another round of 30 Days of Lists starts!
I went to Michael's today and spontaneously decided to buy a post-bound 8.5 x 11 scrapbook instead of using a notebook. Why? You don't have to worry about messing up a page because you can simply make a new one. And it was actually cheaper than getting a notebook (yay for 40% off sales and cheap store brands) and I don't have to get/make another book if I decide to do another round of 30 lists.

I 'decorated' the cover of the vinyl album with washi tape and wite-out and attempted to clean my desk and look for the craft supplies that have been hidden in my drawers for months. It feels so good to get back into paper crafting - I wish paper and all the other scrapbook goodies were lighter so I wouldn't be stuck with a minimum of tools here!

post-bound album

Luckily, 8.5 x 11" is the regular paper format here so I got some additional page protectors at staples for about half the price you'd have to pay if you wanted to have the name of a fancy scrapbook brand printed on it.

Cover Page March 2012

And here's the cover page I made for March - I love the quote! I found it online a couple of weeks ago and decided that I had to incorporate it into the book and now it's on the front page haha.

I'm really glad I completed this project. It is great to see how you can complete an entire art journal within 30 days. I admit that there were days when I felt really uninspired and simply jotted down a list on a piece of paper and journalled about it the next day. Also, working with a very limited amount of supplies was a real challenge. Here's a pictures of all the supplies I used for this porject:

I'm looking forward to the next round of 30 Lists already :)

Childhood memories

shoes tea addict

Have I mentioned that I'm addicted to my phone's camera? I love taking quick pictures of random objects / situations. I've been wearing my minnetonka shoes pretty much every day in the past weeks. They're super comfortable and they pretty much match all my clothes. Also, I've been drinking tea all the time lately. Whenever I come home between classes I feel like I need a cup of hot tea. And it's a pretty healthy addiction, isn't it?

Btw, my instagram username is froggeddesigns if you're curious :)

Here's a sneak peak at the 30 Days of Lists book I've been working on. I'm really bad at sharing my pages (I always forget to photograph the pages during the daytime - and artificial light does horrible things to colors!) but I promise I'll share them this week!
Here's what I came up with for the promt "things that remind me of my childhood". Art journalling with very few materials (namely one Noa Noa catalog, one Toast catalog and an IKEA catalog haha) is challenging. But it also forces me to come up with new solutions - e.g. the dot paper in the corners was part of a $50 cents note pad I got at Michaels. The two images are form the 2012 IKEA catalog and all other things were hand drawn by me.

Drawing is one of the things I generally avoid because I feel that I'm not very talented (to put it nicely). I used google image search as a source of inspiration.

Soo, any things that remind you of your childhood? I'm curious :)

30 Days of Lists

So there's this really amazing online class called 30 Days of Lists that basically is designed for people who don't have time to scrapbook/art journal everyday for hours. So they post a list prompt every day. So it can be a simple list in a notebook or a scrapbook page with lots of fancy stuff on it.

As I have hardly any scrapbook materials here in dorm my pages are rather simple. Yet I like them. A lot :)

Scrappy Time

This is what my desk (which is huge, btw) looks like. All messy :)

30 Lists Cover

Here's the cover of my 30 Lists mini book. I used a moleskine journal I still had. The cover doesn't look fancy but I'm fine with it for now.

30 Lists

I don't really like starting out my art journals right on my first page so I usually have like a second cover.

30 Lists Day 1

Day 1: Goals for September

30 Lists Day 2

Day 2: I'm happiest when...

30Lists Day 3

Day 3: People I love

So far I really enjoy the class and I think it'll be a great memory of my first month of uni experience.

So, anyone else out there who's participating?
